The election of Raymond Kamperveen as President of Parliament has created tensions between MEP and RAIZ, prompting MEP ministers to ask the Governor to dissolve the cabinet. Although challenges had been present for some time, recent issues involving the taxi sector highlighted deeper concerns.
Political analysts had predicted various outcomes for this coalition, often referred to as the “Dream Team.” In response to the situation, Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes, along with her ministers, announced the end of their three-and-a-half-year term in office.
Wever-Croes formally submitted the cabinet’s resignation, citing factors that led to the government’s collapse. The next elections are set for December 6, with party lists to be finalized by October 18.
