Oranjestad, Aruba – May 26, 2025 — Passengers traveling from Aruba to the United States should be aware of an important temporary change to the departure process at Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA). From May 27 through June 16, the airport will be upgrading its E-Gates in the U.S. Departure immigration area, a project aimed at improving efficiency and enhancing the overall travel experience.
During this upgrade period, U.S.-bound passengers will be rerouted through the Local Non-U.S. Departure Immigration checkpoint. The airport anticipates that this temporary adjustment may result in longer wait times, especially during peak travel hours.
To ensure a smooth departure experience, travelers are strongly encouraged to adhere to the following arrival recommendations:
- U.S.-bound flights: Arrive at the airport at least 4 hours prior to departure.
- Other international destinations: Arrive 3 hours prior to departure.
Signage will be clearly posted to guide passengers through the adjusted route, and Airport Ambassadors will be available throughout the terminal to assist with directions, questions, and support.
This upgrade project is expected to be completed by June 17, at which point the newly enhanced E-Gates will be fully operational. Once in service, these improvements are set to significantly streamline the immigration process, reducing wait times and making the departure experience faster and more convenient for U.S.-bound travelers.
