Transformative Upgrade Unveiled: Minister Dangui Oduber’s Vision for an Enhanced ‘Welcome Festival Plaza’ Experience for Cruise Visitors

During a press conference, Minister of Tourism and Public Health Dangui Oduber announced that the enhancement project “Welcome Festival Plaza” is set to begin its first phase. Minister Dangui Oduber, along with APA CEO Mr. Marc Figaroa, presented the master plan, outlining all the projects of Aruba Ports Authority N.V. (APA) in progress for 2024 and 2025.

Minister Dangui Oduber explained that there is a vision in APA’s master plan to diversify entries for APA and to keep Aruba’s product competitive compared to other islands in the Caribbean. APA’s master plan focuses on projects such as Port City, the Ex-DOW building, the Cruise Experience Development Plan, and the Barcadera Business Park. All these projects are sure to create new opportunities, job vouchers, and will bring in more revenue to continue investing in our tourism.

Furthermore, the Welcome Festival Plaza project will receive a complete facelift, including a recreational area, lighting, shade to protect against the sun, landscape design with abundant plants, and it will enhance the aesthetics of the kiosks, ensuring renewed bathrooms to improve the experience for tourists and locals. APA’s master plan continues to be developed in line with the vision that the Ministry of Tourism has to create a great experience and meet all the needs of our tourists and cruise visitors.

Minister Oduber mentioned that he is pleased with APA’s management for the excellent synergy of work and also with the government department for the good cooperation to develop a completely enhanced and transformed area to create a tropical welcome atmosphere for our visitors.
