The Launch of Balashi Beer
In October 1999, the brewery launched its first product, Balashi Pilsner Beer, and it quickly became a favorite. Balashi stood out, crafted with desalinated Aruban water, malt imported from Scotland, and hops from Germany. The beer’s distinct flavor, paired with the company’s commitment to sustainability—through returnable glass bottles—made it a trailblazer in the market.
Expanding the Portfolio
In 2001, MetaCorp acquired full ownership of Balashi from M.P. Farm, merging operations with Tropical Bottling Company under one roof. That same year, the brewery introduced Malta Balashi, a non-alcoholic, energy-packed drink that appealed to a broader audience.
The company’s success continued with the launch of Chill in 2011, a refreshing beer designed for Aruba’s sunny beaches and tropical vibes. Chill’s light, crisp profile and laid-back branding made it an instant hit, prompting the brewery to add it to its core lineup.
Celebrating Milestones
In 2019, Balashi Brewery marked its 20th anniversary by releasing a special limited-edition brew, B Sixty 2, a testament to its legacy of craftsmanship and innovation.
Magic Mango: Aruba’s First Craft Brew
In 2020, the brewery ventured into craft beer with Magic Mango, Aruba’s first fruit-forward brew. This Aruba Pale Ale blends the sweetness of fresh mangoes with balanced malt and a subtle hop finish. Although its launch coincided with Covid-19 restrictions, word-of-mouth buzz propelled its popularity. Initially a seasonal specialty, Magic Mango’s overwhelming demand secured its place as a year-round offering.
