The Alto Vista Chapel becomes the first privately owned and protected monument with its official seal and enters the first phase to begin restructuring.

Minister of Tourism and Public Health, Mr. Dangui Oduber, together with the Minister of Finance and Culture, Mrs. Xiomara Maduro, attended a highly important ceremony for Aruba’s tourism as well as its culture and heritage. The Alto Vista Chapel received its official seal and becomes the first privately owned and protected monument with a beautification plan set to commence in the first quarter of 2024.

It was a pleasant evening with a beautiful Holy Sacrifice mass led by Monseigneur L.A. Secco, featuring a program where Minister Oduber and Minister Maduro, along with representatives from the Monumenten Bureau Aruba, shared some words about the history, emphasizing the importance of the Alto Vista Chapel, as well as the restructuring plan and the requirements for it to be a privately owned and protected monument.

Minister Oduber explained the beautification plan and the elements included in the plan to create a better structure for the Alto Vista area. This beautiful project aims to organize and maintain the area with tranquility and peace for everyone who visits and prays at the Alto Vista Chapel. The official mentioned that the project is in its first phase of restructuring, and the following steps are planned for implementation:

• Ensuring the expansion of parking space, including a designated area for the parking of buses, ATVs, and UTVs.

• Prohibiting ATVs, UTVs, and buses from playing loud music in the area to maintain peace and tranquility for visitors.

• Beautifying the area around the Chapel and constructing restrooms.

• Establishing rules and visitation guidelines regarding attire.

• Improving accessibility for persons with disabilities.

• Implementing property protection measures.

• Maintaining a sustainability plan.

In conclusion, Minister Oduber expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this project a reality: the Parish of Noord, the Bishopric, Minister Xiomara Maduro, Monumenten Bureau Aruba, and all government departments for working together to maintain the vision and create the Alto Vista Chapel area, a place of tranquility and peace for all our visitors.
