Celebrating Relaxation on the Caribbean’s Sunny Shores
On June 13, 2024, Eagle Beach in Aruba witnessed the debut of the Relaxathon, the Caribbean’s first-ever relaxation competition. Hosted by Shaun White, one hundred participants gathered to compete in an hour-long event dedicated solely to the art of relaxation.
What is the Relaxathon?
The Relaxathon is a unique competition focused on achieving the ultimate state of calm. Participants lounged on Eagle Beach, aiming to maintain the lowest and most stable heart rates over the course of an hour.
How the Relaxathon Works
Each contestant was equipped with a heart rate monitor to track their relaxation levels. The goal was simple: stay as calm and relaxed as possible. Points were awarded based on the steadiness of each participant’s heart rate.
Prizes for the Best Relaxers
The top three relaxers were awarded medals and travel prize packages, with the grand prize being a return trip to Aruba. The competition offered not just a serene experience, but also the chance to win exciting rewards.
Competition Rules
Participants were required to keep their heart rates low and steady while remaining seated with their eyes open. No distractions such as devices or books were allowed, and each competitor had to stay on their assigned towel, avoiding any disturbance to others. Minimal talking was encouraged to maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
Competitors brought identification and a relaxed mindset. Towels, sunscreen, and water were provided to ensure comfort. Lightweight, comfortable clothing and easy-to-remove shoes were recommended.
Celebration of tranquility
The inaugural Relaxathon on Eagle Beach was a celebration of tranquility and relaxation. It provided a unique opportunity for participants to showcase their ability to unwind in a competitive yet serene environment, making it a memorable event dedicated to the joy of relaxation.
