AHATA: RevPAR is the main indicator of results

Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association accumulates the numbers of occupants and hotel prices every month. The CEO of AHATA, Tisa LaSorte, has reported that in the first months of 2023 there’s a new pattern with fewer occupants compared to 2019 but with high prices for each hotel room. The results from RevPAR which is the main indicator of results and shows that in 2019 and last year.

July 2023

Occupants: the grade of occupants was 78%; which is 5% less with the grade of occupants compared to July 2022.

ADR: The average rate of each hotel room was $325.50; an increase of 9% compared to July 2022.

RevPAR: The average earning for each available hotel room was $252.10 which is an increase of 3% compared to July 2022. RevPAR indicates the results financially before subtracting operational costs and taxes.

January – July 2023

Occupants: The average occupancy of the first 7 months was 79%; an increase of 9% compared to the same time in 2022. (Note: in the first quarter of 2022 Aruba’s tourism was effected by covid.)

ADR: The average value of each hotel room sold was $358.15; which is 14% more compared to last year in 2022.

RevPAR: The average of the first 7 months was $283.31; 24% more compared to last year in 2022.

Projection:

The actual projection for the occupancy average of hotels for August is 76%, September 69%, and October 71%. Expecting that for the whole 2023 the occupancy rate will be an average of 77%, which represents a reduction of 9% compared to the average of the year 2019.

Timeshare:

Occupancy for timeshare properties was 82.6% in July 2023.
